Validation Rule in Table vs. Form

In my previous thread I asked how to lock a field so I can only enter certain numbers. My question now is...



The point values for these elements can change, so if I set the validation rule in the table, if the point value changes next year, then the previous scores will go against the new rule. SO should I set the validation rule in the FORM, that way the information stored in the table will not go against the validation rule if the point values were to change?

I guess my question more is, if I set the rule in the form, does that effect the table as well, or will it only effect that field in the form?

If you set the rule in the form, it only affects data entered via the form. As long as you keep users out of tables, using the form should be fine.

No one has access to the tables so as long as it wont create issues with previous records then that should work great! Thank you!
