Locking the Table when in design view

I have just migrated to 2010 from 2003. When I wanted to update the database and keep all users out, I would open the Table in Design view, this prevented anyone from opening a table. In Access 2010, if I open the Table in Design View, anyone can get in. I need them to be locked out while I am updating. Does anyone know how to do this in Access 2010?

I use a version of "Kick-em-off" to do that: http://www.accessmvp.com/JConrad/acc...e/kickoff.html

No that is not what I am looking for. If I could paste in this box, I would show you. But it basically says "The table 'GVS Exceptions'is already opened exclusively by another user, or it is already open through the user interface and cannot be manipulated programatically" Do you know if they disabled this in 2010? By the way, I am here in Lakewood CO. Would like to be at 8300...

And that allows me to update the database each 1st of every month without the analysts being able to get into it and change any records until I get it all updated.

Do you allow others direct entry into the tables? You know you can open the file "Exclusively" which will probably give others a read only copy of the tables.

Yes They can update the Database in the table. It was easier and they are good about not deleting records. Ho do I open it "Exclusively"?

With Access open go to File>Open and select your db. There should be an option to open Exclusively on that screen.

Thank you--That works perfectly. Now, how do I mark this as resolved?
