I would like for other users on my network to be able to view the Access file while I, or another user, might have the same file or a linked Excel file open. Is this possible? If so, how?
Thanks in advance.

This is possible.
You will need to split your database into Front End [Queries, Forms, Reports, Modules . . .] and Back End [Tables only].
You put the Back End on a Network Share and then install the Front end on whichever machines need to use it.
The Users don't HAVE to have MS Access installed. Read up on installing the Access runtime on the users' machines if they don't have Access installed.
You can google this information - Microsoft has very good instructions on how to achieve this.
I have a couple of databases that are split and have multiple users.
All the best!!
Thank you, Robeen.
I did this, and now I'm able to open the Access file while having the linekd Excel files open. This is good.
I still run into the problem that if I already have the Access file open, I can only open the linked Excel files as "Read Only." Can this issue also be solved?
Thanks again in advance.
I bet that is an Excel issue - because I know that sometimes when my programs here at work run and they need to delete an existing spreadsheet - the program will halt if one of my users has the spreadsheet open.
I don't know of a way to over come that sharing limitation in Excel.
Do you have the option of importing all your Excel data into Access?
