    Database Design

    Hello All,

    im trying to think of a database design for a program that i wrote.
    it's a daily work time log using Access database

    my problem is that i cant find a way for the database to match my needs.

    The database should be design for 5 users.
    each users will have between the years 2009-2020 monthly hours report
    FOR EACH YEAR.

    somthing like John->2009->jan(report1)feb(report2),mar(report3),etc...
    John->2010->jan(report1)feb(report2),mar(report3),etc...

    i hope you understand what i mean...

    Does any one have an idea on how my database should be look like
    (Example would be great!!).

    Thanks.

    I created a database that collected information on Application issues. It was a 24/7/365 day operation and we recorded information that occurred on each shift. I created a table for one month and copied it and renamed the table to reflect the month I needed it. I captured the technicians name in a field. The field can be reproduced on any report so identifying the reports owner is recorded and reported.
    If you know the information you want to capture and report create however many tables you need for a good database design. Use one that uses the other tables and your daily datasheet entries to reate the reports you need. As far as the schedule of who's responsible for the reports onany given year - Have them notified of their yearly responsiblities and keep using the renamed table to capture your data and automate the report it won't matter who's running the report - they will be identified as soon as they fill in the field that catures who's entering the data used for that specific report. I hope this helps start you on your way.
