Import from Excel to Access 2010 Issues

I am having problems importing data from excel to Access using the Wizard. It use to work but does'nt anymore. I don't know if anyone has encounted a similar problem and how they resolved it.

After I specify the "Source of Data" and check radio button "Import the source data into new table in current database" and then click OK, nothing happens. No error message. Nothing!!

Any help or suggestions or alternatives.

    Ben

I have never had this problem.
Can you post your database here so I can see if I have the same problem when I try and import a spreadsheet into your database?

It doesn't work for any Access file. New one or already existing one.

    Thanks,
    Ben

I'm not sure what I was expecting - but I didn't have a problem importing an excel spreadsheet into a new table in your database.

And you say you have the problem using ANY database you have - even if you create a new one?

I'm clutching at straws - but perhaps you could try a Compact & Repair action in your database?
    Have you tried re-booting your computer? [I know . . . ]

If that doesn't work and you don't hear from anyone else on this, you might try posting the question again.

    Again, sorry i couldn't help.

Thanks Robeen, but the Compact & Repair + Rebooting didn't work. Its kinda wierd, 'cos it worked one week and the next it stopped. Fo now I copy and paste from excel to access and that works fine. I am still working to find a fix though.

    I'm sorry I ccouldn't help.

I'd like to know when you find the solution, what the problem was.

Do you have the option to un-install and then RE-Install Access? Again, I don't know that this would help - but it might.

I hope you find a solution soon.

    I just had another thought.
Try creating a Macro and using the 'ImportExport Spreadsheet' action and see if you have any better success with that.

    Hello Everyone,

I have been facing a problem since last two days, actually i want to import some data from a file (file can be csv, txt, sql, xls etc) and after some filtration, export it into csv file. Basically i want to know whether a tool which provides an environment to import and export of different types of file or data and where we can perform filtration of data with the help of sql query and then data could be save into file(file can be csv, txt, sql, xls etc).

Please give me your valuable suggestion.

    Thanks in advance!!

Recently something happened to my user administrator status now not recognized by Vista which is a whole different problem. Importing Excel works when Access database is opened by administrator.

Please reply to this thread with any new information or opinions.
