Can Access Column Have Label & Underlying Names?

    Hi, Everyone -
I'm tweaking a 2007 version table so that it meshes with Excel imports created from a proprietary company database. My problem is that the end users are more familiar with the column names of the Access table than the ones on the Excel sheets the company database creates. My question is this:

Is it possible to give my Access table columns a "label name" and an "underlying name" (similar, I guess, to the way a form tab control page can have a name in the "other" section of its properties and a caption in the "format" section of its properties)?

If this can't be done, I guess I can only change my Access column names to parallel those in the company database/Excel generations or ask the user to change the column headings in Excel before they import into Access, which I'm trying to avoid - the less technical stuff they have to do the less mess!

    Thanks in advance,
    Soule

Since letting users work on the tables directly is

probably a bad idea, how about leaving the table names alone and putting the aliases in your queries?
