I am relatively new to Access, and my boss has tasked me with a project a little beyond my skill level. I'm hoping someone on here can offer some guidance.
I need to create a database that acts as a schedule in two different formats: a daily roster and a monthly schedule. So far, we have been producing these files in Excel, and I have attached a zip file that contains example of each.
The objective here is to create a form that appears similar to the monthly schedule. When data is entered into the form in the monthly format, it should automatically populate the daily rosters.
I've tried a few different approaches here, but I'm continually tied up by the table structure and necesasry relationship formats.
I believe that I need a table with dates as the records, a table with staff members ID & names, and a table with shift information. As far as I can determine, I would need to set up many-to-many relationships between each. I keep ending up producing enormous tables of repeating data when I try to accomodate this, so I feel that I'm violating the normal forms and missing something.
