How do I make a query output to a report - from a button?

I have my query which works fine and my report which is set out as I want, but I cant seem to get the output from the query to the report. Can anyone shed some light on this for me please?

The report's Record Source property would be the name of the query.

Ive changed the record source property but all that happens still is the button which initiates the query produces the report in a table format not as the report. Also I had top copy the report as the source property had the fields from the tables which I was trying to print in - is this correct?

What is the code behind the button? It should be opening the report, not the query.
