ACCESS VB using Excel Dates Question

    Hi folks

I have a database that reads in Excel sheet and manipulate the data.

dates are in dd.mm.yyyy format in the spreadsheet (custom format).

On one user machine, if he/she opens the spreadscheet and select a dd.mm.yyyy cell, the date appears in the Excel function bar as mm/dd/yyyy

On another user machine, if he/she opens the spreadscheet and select a dd.mm.yyyy cell, the date appears in the Excel function bar as dd.mm.yyyy

The Access vba is written to deal with the first case and it is chocking on the 2nd case.

I am hoping someone can provide feedabck on this:
    • How to handle situations when the DB is being used in different countries and different users have different Date setting
    • Where in the world in Excel, the setting is set to make the display different between the two uses. I looked in Format Date/custom ... but this does not seems to be the source of the problem
    Thanks for your help

    Mike

Might be the computer's regional settings influencing the Excel.

Control Panel > Regional and Language Options > Regional Options tab > Customize > Date
How to attach file: http://www.accessforums.net/showthread.php?t=70301 To provide db: copy, remove confidential data, run compact & repair, zip w/Windows Compression.
