    Columns, Rows & Cells

I am new to the 2007/2010 release of Access (and all other Office products). One new feature are these columns and rows that are created when using the wizards. I see uses for this, but they baffle me. For instance, when I change the width of a label, the corresponding text field changes. Things jump around in unexpected ways. In general I feel less in control when trying to format my report. I find myself fighting the program. Any thoughts on this subject. I find myself deleting and evidence of table structure so I can regain control of my product. That's not always easy to do and it is inconvenient to boot.

I find this annoying also. But there is a remedy. With your form open in design view, click on arrange and then under control layout, click on remove. It unlinks the controls for formatting.

Thank you Alan. That helped tremendously and also lowered my blood pressure.

    Bob,

I'll check out your link when I have time.

The floor is still open for venting and contructive suggestions.

No need to do so now. It just shows the same thing that Alan wrote, but in screenshot form.

I see that now. Anyway it is a relief to know how to turn this off. I'll probably find some uses for this later.

    Talking

Bob; Pictures are faster than typing. A good picture is worth many words
