Record has been changed by another user since you started editing it

    hi

I am stuck in a problem . I have a search form in which there is a subform which shows the searched data. Now on double clicking on the record line of the searched data I am opening a new form in which I am populating these data .When I am trying to do a update in this modification form I am typically getting this error message after successfull updation .

this record has been changed by another user since you started editing it .

Now I dont know how to get rid of this error .Plz help.

ok - well fundamentally that error message is when 2 users are in the same record at the same time. In this case it might be yourself in two different forms.

so that's your issue. Not just seeing the same records but actually having the cursor in a field in that record making it active....

the solution will kind of depend on you and how you want to control the user experience. I think one approach would be to make that subform property to be non-editable. I do believe that this will still permit the double click that opens the new form while satisfying Access that you are not trying to edit the record (cause the subform property is no edits)...off the cuff and not 100% sure but worth a try.

but in any case that is your fundamental issue to resolve one way or another....hope it helps.

I agree, try setting the subform's AllowEdits property to NO. Does the subform use a query for its recordsource or just the table itself? If the table itself, change to using a query and you might set the query type from Dynaset to Snapshot.

I tried doing all the mentioned ways .But still I am getting the error.

I set the Allow edit property in the subform as No and then tried opening it -same problem.
I have the record source of the subform as query only and the problem persists.

I tried closing the subform on double click but this also same error.
    Any help ?

Did you change the query from Dynaset to Snapshot?

The solution I used is I did a refresh on the of the new form that was opening on double click. Thanks for all the help.
