Some Field in my form are not working

    Hi Guys,

I am pretty new to Access, but have been learnings slowly. I am trying to make a form. I have made the same form twice, two different ways. One is made up from 2 tables, by dragging the required fields to make the form. And the other was made by making a query which combined the two tables together. However I am unable to use some of the fields, no matter which way i make the form.

The majority of fields from one of the one table and they work fine but there are 3 fields from my other table that will not allow me to enter data when I get to them. I have checked properties and everything is enabled, but I can't for the life of me figure out whats wrong...I don't even know where to start.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

    Many Thanks,
    Jen

have you tried using a form/subform combination? The main form would be your parent table, the subform would be the data from your child table and if you establish the links correctly (I'm assuming this is a one to many relationship) then you should be able to enter everything without issue.

I think your issue is a case of embedding a subform for the second table into your main form. Look here:

Hi, I will try that when I get home, but I like the look I have of the form the way it is. Can you make a form and a subform look like they are one?

Will let you know how I get on!

    Many Thanks,
    Jen

Yes you can make them look like they're one item, it just gives you the flexibility to add multiple items to the parent item and enforce the parent/child link automatically.
