You do not have exclusive access to the database at this time.

Since I started using Access 2010, I've been encountering problems with this error message popping up when multiple users try to access the same database. Sometimes they message pops up when the database is opened, other times it is when certain forms are opened. In no case are any objects being opened in design view. Some of these databases are linked to SQL tables, some are linked to Access back ends, and others are using local tables. In some cases, all three types of tables are present.

Another issue that may or may not be related is that there are System tables being added to my relationship window, but I am not adding them. They are appearing all by themselves. When I see this happen, it is always the same 3 tables: MSysNavPaneGroups, MSysNavPaneGroupsToObjects, and MSysNavPaneGroupsCategories.

I am at my wits end. Please Help.

By the way, the user usually has to hit "OK" about 10-15 times before they can proceed.

Perhaps a different approach to MultiUser is in order: http://www.accessmvp.com/TWickerath/.../multiuser.htm

So what portion of the page that the link brings me to applies to my situation?

FYI: this happens with as few as 2 users accessing the database at the same time.

Because I haven't been able to fix this issue, I have been having everyone make a copy of the front end on their desktop to work from. While this makes the problem go away, I consider it more of a band-aid than a cure.

MultuUser systems should be split to FrontEnd and BackEnd with every user having their own copy of the FE on their PC.
