    Custom Access system VS QB

What are the pros/cons of Quick Books vs doing it all in Access?

Is it practical to do it all in Access?

Does anyone do that... what do they do about tax code updates?

I probably will have more questions based off responses to this but lets see where this conversation goes.

    Thanks in advance,
    Gilligan

My recommendation - buy Quick Books. I have used it and it is a good OTS accounting app. Trying to build Access project to do all that QB can do would cost a lot more in time and effort and frustration.

It has been a while since I used it but seem to remember could buy updates to the program for changes in tax code.

Of course, software decision is dependent on your specific needs and without knowing more, this is best I can offer. The point I really want to make is that no matter your accounting needs, there is probably already a software available. Building your own accounting app (especially where payroll and taxes are involved) in Access isn't worth the headaches and risks.

What is the bare minimum that you would need if you were going to use QB as a single user backend that Access would feed data into?

    I have no idea.
    Google: Access Quickbooks integration
    Check this http://rlevineconsulting.com/.

Apparently Intuit markets an enterprise version of QB http://quickbooks.intuit.com/product...ote_access.jsp
