Viewing Attachments

I created a form in Access 2007 where I linked PDF research files to a file in access. If I double click on the paper clip that is in my form I get an Access Attachment Dialog box where the user has to highlight the attachment and either double click it or click open on the right. (All records should only have 1 attachment.)

Is there a way for the user to either click or double the attachment and have it open?

An Attachment field purpose is to have files actually stored in the database. I have never used this field type. Storing files in the database just causes file size to grow enormously. Instead, use Hyperlink field to open files stored outside the database.

The file itself is not located in the database but in a directory on the server.

Then it is not an attachment, you need to hyperlink. Attachment and Hyperlink are different field types in Access.
