    Order Report by Textbox Value

Is it possible to show a report in order by the value of a textbox? The textbox I'm trying to use is not the primary key, and is a text field.

They want the reports in order by name, not number.
Thanks in advance for the help!

If the textbox you are referring to is on the report. Open the report in design view. Right click on the square box located on the left margin, just below the name of the report. A menu should appear, choose sorting and grouping. Then, you can select the field, the sort direction as well as group options.

    Hope this gets you started.

    All the best,

    Jim

It did get me started and finished! I used the Group option. :] Thank you! I didn't even know that existed!

Do, you also have a suggestion how to hide an entire report if the value is not null? I've thought of an If statement on the Open Report or maybe using Filter, but I don't even understand what you type in Filter.

Thanks again! and any help on my new issue will be greatly appreciated as well.

I have a report for invoices, which is now grouped by Name (thank you for that) because some people have multiple invoices, so all their's are grouped together.
But if their invoice is paid, then I don't want that report to show.
If their invoice is not paid, then I do want that report to show.

Is there a field in the underlying recordsource of the report that indicates whether or not an invoice is paid, i.e. Y/N field, date paid, etc. ?

If so, you could use that field and set a criteria against it in the query. Then, those records which have been paid will not be displayed.

    Please advise...
