    Importing data based on dates

    Hello everyone,

I am brand new to the forum, and fairly new to access. I know access is very powerful and i know it will suit my needs as soon as i cross over the learning curve.

I have several files that I export from another program. Each one has a serial code along with the date. Inside of the file it is a list of usage of the each machine for that day, which is about 130. What i need to do to use the data is to import from the text file into access. I would like to automate it as much as possible. So I could say.... I need data from 6/1/11 to 6/30/11.

Where do i start? If that even makes sense!

The more friendly and automated, the more code is needed. You could use the import wizard to bring the data into a 'temporary' table then run an Insert Select query to move desired records to the permanent table. More automated than that will require complex VBA, specifics of which depend on the nature of the source data.
