Why is my access file so big?

    Hello,

What causes access file to increase its size? Currently mine is reaching 10mb without any data! I have 8 tables, 15 queries, 10 forms, and 2 reports. I don't understand why my access file is so big. Does this mean that my database is inefficient?

Did you put some pictures on your forms? That will do it.

First off, forms and reports can take up a bit of space depending on what you've done with them. Second, try using the COMPACT AND REPAIR feature to reclaim space that has been marked for deletion (old controls you discarded, forms deleted, etc.) as it doesn't do it automatically.

So, go to the round Office button and then go to MANAGE and then select COMPACT AND REPAIR and see how big it is then.

Yes, it does that. When you delete things, it doesn't release that space until you do the compact and repair. It also does the same for things like when you use make table queries. And if you add pictures, like RG said, it can quickly bloat.
