    basic help

I am brand new to Access but with pretty extensive database design experience 20 years ago in R:Base. I understand fundemetally how a relational database works but am stuck on small mechanics for now. Current question: how do I add a field to a template table. I downloaded a template database and the tables seem to be locked so I cannot change a field name or add a field. If I create a new table I can do those things just fine. At this point I dont want to design a new database from scratch, because designing reports, forms etc would probably be a lot more time consuming than editing an existing template. I am using the Customer Service template. Thanks!!

All of the objects in the templates should be changeable. Are you getting an error of some kind?

    no error messages

Thanks for your reply!! I get no error messages. In the tables I create myself , the heading of the column to the right of the last field says "add a field" or something like that. The template colums are all blank to the right of the last field. This is an entire database I downloaded not just one of the template table in the Create > table section. in the templates in the Create> table section, I can add a field or change the field name etc without a problem!

Rather than me downloading the template again, how about you doing a Compact and Repair and then zip up the db and attach it to a post here?
