    Remembering previously enetered data

    Hi,

How can I make a field in a table remember previously entered data and recall it as a list when someone starts typing in the field using a form?

    Thanks!

Use a ComboBox and turn on AutoExpand.

ummm....to start, this is vague. IMO, can't even interpret it! I'm kinda thinking Allan mis-interpreted too, but that's a guess.

In general, "previously entered data", reading it as a phrase only, can probably be "brought back" via internal memory by using the:
    Code:
    control.oldvalue
property in a form. You cannot do it in a table, but you shouldn't be doing that anyway.

If you need further back than "old value", tables for archiving work just fine.

    Let me clarify.

If I want the user to enter province, for example. Lets say for records 1 through 10, the user enters Ontario 7 times and Quebec 3 times. What I want is that if the user has entered Ontario or Quebec just once, I want them to be able to just start typing the province name and have the form show them Ontario or Quebec as options to select depending on what they're typing.

    Any ideas?

See suggestion in this thread https://www.accessforums.net/forms/d...try-13275.html

Or create the RowSource as a list if there is no lookup table of provinces. There are how many provinces, a fairly short list, unlike the 50 states would be listed for U.S.

Please reply to this thread with any new information or opinions.
