Dropdown List: Use Each Item Once?

Not sure if this is possible, but here we go...

Let's say I'm planning a lunch potluck for work. In one table I have a list of names. In another table I have a list of Items we need people to bring.

In the Names table, I'd like a dropdown list of items, pulled from the Items list. No problem there. But here's the kicker: I don't want it to allow everybody to sign up for the same thing. In fact, I'd like each item on the list to only be able to be used once. I don't need everybody bringing potato chips. If I need two people to bring chips, I'd rather add it to the Items table twice.

Is this possible? If so, any clue how?

Using Access from MS Office 2003.

    Thanks.

    Welcome to the forum!

First, you should not be using list or combo boxes at the table level. See this site for details as to why it is not a good idea. List and combo boxes are best used at the form level and that is where you should be doing your assignments of items to the people.

Can 1 person bring many items?
