Adding record with next sequential number

I want to create a form that allows me to add a new record, but will self-populate with the next sequential number of the record. I am using Access 2010. The data I have has 3 columns of data that I want. There are more columns but I only want the three to self-populate. The first two will stay the same, but the third is the data that I want to have the next sequential record number. I already have a query that brings up the data with the data in descending order and I have the form that displays the data, but I want another step to add a new record that has the new data that self-populates with the next record number. Is all this confusing. Please help! I'm sure I am over-thinking this and it will be an easy fix. Let me know if you need any more info.

That isn't exactly what I am looking for. I am soo close by using macros, but I keep getting stuck at some point.

I'm sorry but I know practically nothing about Macros so I will not be of much help in this situation.
