    opening Access database -help!

I installed Access 97 on my computer 1st, then Office 2000 without installing Access 2000.
When I click on my Access 97 database (ex: Northwind.mdb ) it prompts me to search for a program to open it.
I then browse and look for Access and it won't appear in my tree of programs to use to open it. I finally got it to appear and it still doesn't work. Then I went to Windows Explorer and clicked: Tools\Folder Options\File types nd selected the MDB file, Mdb Extension and made sure that was opened by Microsoft Access. A Restore button appears only on the .mdb file type and i tried that too. only the icon changes and it does go the default program, which is still Access. Whenever I click on my database file I get the error message as follows:

"The command line you used to start Microsoft Access 97 Contains an option that Microsoft Access doesn't recognize. Exit and restart microsoft Access using valid command-line options. This error message appears 3 times. Then a fourth message appears that says: "Microsoft Access can't find the database file
C:\Documents.mdb. Make sure you entered the correct path and file name.

After I click these errors away, I can open the database through the file folder fine 9the program does open and the database works fine. i just want the program to open automatically, by having a shortcut run northwind.mdb and it opens with Access 97 the way it used to before i reinstalled Windows XP. (I did have both office 2000 and office 97 on the computer at the same time then too)

I was trying to avoid creating a batch file...

It seems that your access configuration file is corrupted.
    Pls re-install access.

Alternatively, you can open access first.
    Then file>open>your access file
