    Access Security

When trying to open my database, Access has started requiring a "Logon". I didn't activate security but it sure looks like it is there. The "User" field is populated with my windows login. I've tried every password I can think of. And since I don't know the log in, I can't open my db.

Any way to turn off security?

I don't know, but this sure looks suspicious!

Why not ask your IT administrator?

Either MSAccess security was implemented on the db (in which there will be an mdw file and the shortcut to open it will have the mdw file and location within it). Or the data tables were upsized to SQL Server and you're getting the logon prompt to access SQL Server. Or someone designed a logon form and implemented some other security.

You need to find out what was done and by who.

    Security

I am the only one who does development on these laptops. If anyone was playing around, they aren't admitting anything. It appears User-Level security has been turned on. Anyone know how to turn it off; or disable it? I'm ok uninstalling Access if need be. I have my mdb files backed up. And I can run my app on other laptops.

Basically, I have a laptop that doesn't allow me to run Access.

If it's protected via an mdw file (MSAccess Security), you can find the *.mdw file and try this: https://www.accessforums.net/code-re...iles-7703.html on the mdw file (MSAccess 97, 2000, 2003, XP only) and it should show you the login/passwords that were implemented. You could then use that login/password to login which I think you'll need to do to unimplement security. I can't recall how you unimplement it though.

    Security

I downloaded the zip file opened the MSA2KPT.MDA file. The Logon window that is the initial problem came up and not being able to get past that means I can't use the utility.
