How do you Import a list of names, addresses and info from Word to access?
How do you Import a list of names, addresses and info from Word to access?
Unfortunately, this is probably a can of worms...
Best bet is to reformat the Word doc so that each "row" of the list takes up one line of data, with a tab between each item. If it's formatted like:
FirstName LastName
Address
City, State Zip
Change it to look like:
FirstName[tab]LastName[tab]Address[tab]City[tab]State[tab]Zip
This can be done using several global search-and-replace steps.
Then, save the word doc as a Plain Text file, and import into Access as a tab-delimited text file. Better yet, pull the Plain Text file in Excel first to make sure everything drops into the columns where you expect it, then import the Excel file into Access.
Best I can do for you -- Word & Access are such different animals when it comes to data formatting that this is the best avenue I've found over the years.

The Word File is hundreds of thousands of names.
some names have the first name firt, some last name first, some no person but only a business name. some have the emails & website & Tell # & Cell Phone & Fax and others dont.
It is in no particualr order.
some names even have the companies logo stuck on it.
any suggestions?
No, sorry.
As I said, a can of worms.
Take the time to do the reformatting yourself, hire a temp to do it, see if there's a service out there somewhere that will do it for you. Other than that, I'm out of ideas.
