Memo Data Types

I am using Access 2007 for the first time. The database I am designing has several fields with Memo data type. When I enter data in my Form, the field will only accept a limited number of characters; e.g., it is acting like it is a Text data type that will only accept 255 characters. I am sure I am missing something, but I don't know what. Can anyone help?

memo types do weird things. Is the form based on a query? that could be causing it. or is there an input mask? validation rules set?

things like that might be factors

Thanks for your reply. The form is based on the table. No input mask. No validation rules. Any other ideas?
