    Access 2003 to Access 2007

I have an access 2003 database application that utilizes an mdb for the data backend, and an mde/mdb front end.

I have a virtual machine running windows 7 and access 2007. I would like to receive some assistance on migrating not only your backend data, but your front end data as well to 2007.

The problem that I currently am experiencing is the following:

I can save the mdb backend as a 2007 file format.

I can not convert my front end application that has a plethora of forms, queries, linked tables, reports, macros, and modules.

    Any help is appreciated.

Why can't you convert your front end to a .accdb?

If a Windows PC need to "use" an Access database but does not have Access installed then you can installed the Access runtime version. Starting with 2007 the runtime can be freely download from Microsoft's web site.

In 2003 and previous versions you have to purchase the Developer Tools to get the license to distribute the Access runtime. If the PC had a license for Office without Access then usually you could install the runtime from the installation CD. IIRC the license for the runtime was limited to just that License of Office.

The Access runtime will only "run" objects. You can NOT use the Runtime in design mode to create or change the design objects.

Please reply to this thread with any new information or opinions.
