I removed McAfee. The DBs now open properly. I really don't know hoe McAfee messed thing up.
I had been on another forum trying to learn about Anti-Virus apps to use. They suggested I delete McAfee and let Windows Security take over.

    Hi AccessSHELL,
It seems like the issue is specific to your PC. Here are a few things to try:

    1. Check Trust Center Settings: Even if you don’t use trusted locations, double-check Access Trust Center settings to ensure there are no restrictions.
    2. Compact and Repair: Try running Compact and Repair on the database to fix any potential corruption.
    3. Recent Updates: Since the issue started after updates, consider rolling back any recent Windows, Office, or security software updates that might be causing conflicts.
    4. New User Profile or Reinstall: If the issue persists, try creating a new user profile or reinstalling Access to fix potential system-level issues.
    5. Check Network/Permissions: Since the issue occurs with shared files, check for network-related issues or permissions that might be causing the problem.

Hope this helps! Let us know how it goes.
