Glad I made you laugh over your breakfast cereal!
I think what threw me was you showing the Start menu with caption and the Recent list....
Still unclear why you did show that!

FWIW, what you are calling the Access window I would call the quick access toolbar (QAT) at the top & underneath that you have the menu
The whole caboodle including ribbon, nav pane, forms etc are contained in the Access application window.
I've no idea whether either of us is using the correct wording any more

It is certainly possible to hide all components except for a popup form (as in post #10 link)
However, you are correct in saying that you will see a brief flash whilst it loads the startup form.

TBH its never bothered me ...until now ... but thanks to you I won't be able to ignore it from now on ...

I've not tried it but see if this link helps: https://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Fo...orum=accessdev

    It also references this link:http://http://access.mvps.org/access/forms/frm0042.htm

PERHAPS (???) you could set the 'window' (???) height & width to 1x1 and see if that fixes it

As always, its been a real pleasure to be communicating with each other in the same language. HA HA!

e.g. yesterday someone on UA wanted each form in their app to have its own unique form icon.
Several of us, including me, thought it wasn't possible. WRONG!
Of course, whether its worth doing is another matter

    Doh!
I use this idea all the time to show a floating splash popup form

Create a shortcut to your app and set it to run Minimized.
If you have a startup form, that's all you will see when you run it
If you have no startup form, it will just open with a taskbar icon
In your case, add your function to the autoexec macro with no startup form
    Run it & quit.

    Almost there but not quite
Now create an empty startup form with no controls & set its width & height to 0
    Run again using the shortcut

You have just entered a flash free zone (apart from the taskbar icon)
And if even that's not enough, you can have an invisible taskbar icon!
    Over and out...

    HALLELUJAH!

I downloaded the keyboard app "WinHotKey" and launched the subject app via an assigned hotkey. There is NO flashing of any kind when opening either mde or accde DB's with this approach.

    Thanks Colin and Paul.

    Glad you found a solution.
If possible, would you mind trying my solution from my last post which avoids the need for any external app

Adding a 0x0 startup form with a minimized shortcut works as you predicted. I still use a PS/2 based keyboard so I had to use the WinHotKey to assign my function to a hotkey. Microsoft only supports assigning hotkey functionality if one has a Microsoft Keyboard.

You've been a great help so I thank you again,
    Bill
