The adjusted quantity (factor times Quantity) is calculated in an unbound textbox. Calculated data is not saved into a record unless code (VBA or macro) is used to save it. If you use code to populate the Quantity field with calculated value then yes the record is changed. So don't use code to change the Quantity. Display the calculated textbox next to the Quantity textbox.

That makes sense. Thanks. I've got more questions, but I think I should start a new thread.

I decided to handle this a different way. I am now simply updating the Quantity and # of Servings fields and saving the multiplying factor in a hidden unbond text box. Then, when a person closes the form or moves to a new record, I use the Form Before Update event to create another recordset that uses the saved multiplying factor to divide the same fields (Quantity and # of Servings) returning them to their original values.

The only thing I don't like is that if someone saves the form it fires the Before Update event and restores the original values without leaving the form. I may get around this later by creating my own navigation buttons and using the click event to fire my code and take it away from the Before Update event. Then if someone saves the record the numbers won't change. I guess I would then have to fire the same code on the close event. hmmmm, have to give that more thought.
