    1) I downloaded the db that I had uploaded.


    2) I opened the db.
    3) I opened the form SearchForm.
    4) I entered Lily in the FirstName textbox.
    5) I clicked on the Run Query button on the form.
    6) It opened Query1, which showed a single record, which had Lily in the FirstName column.

    Are you doing the same as above ?

    Yes, that works! For some reason, clicking on the query button gives a different result than clicking on the query name on the left. But point is that the filter is working properly.

    Thanks a lot for your help, June7 and recyan! It would have taken me ages to figure it by myself.
