finally... I have accessed the forms, queries, tables. Alt-P will get you to a form with database icon available. I think thats what got me there. If that wasnt it I had started a new database and imported the autoexec macro. I edited out the security looking information then exported it back to the original database. Now it seems the database icon is available on all screens and can get back to the original question.. lol

Try the import to a new project.

ok so now im back to trying =IIf(Length(task_code)>11,Null,WO_Description) .New information I got today is different from what I originally posted but just a small variation. Originally it was anything that was 8characters-xx-xx now it 8characters-xx-xx(and anything after this). Would the same code work or would I have to put in a wildcard somewhere ?

Yes 14. I was looking at the piece of code you gave me a realized you were just testing total length rather than the format. The part of your code that wasnt going to work was the part that says if it is not > 14 then WO_description which the name of the box where the code was going was WO_description so I had to rename the box to WO_description2 or just something other than wo_description then it worked like a charm. Thanks again.
