Hi Goodguy & Alan,
I've taken what you and Alan provided here, and using your ideas, have come up exactly what I needed! Thank you so much. I guess what is so hard is, everybody thinks so differently. I bet that if there were 3 programmers in a room, and the same request communicated to the three at the same time, the three would come back with 3 totally different designs. Have you found that to be true? I'm not what you call a programmer, I'm a User....been using for 30 years, and have never been satisfied with just using and learning the front end. I've always wanted to know from the back end what makes things works...so I've learned what I know that way, from trial and experience, and reading books. So no real formal programming education...but I am lucky to understand more that the typical user. When I finish the db, I'll share it with you through skydrive so you can take a look at the final product.
My company doesn't have any real guidelines about this...as long as patient data isn't compromised and I'll make a copy of it before we actually start putting data in. Thank you so much for all of your helpyou've been wonderful and nice, and informative. Suzanne
