    That test should be helpful. The RoomMate is always listed by LastName, FirstName right? If no roommate then the field is = to "0" or is it simply = ""?

    Lookup values in one column from another record

    It's = to "0" (I took out people without roommates for that stripped down database I attached to the last message for simplicity's sake.)
