Queries ramdonly fail on new PC

I have a database that I previously ran successfully on a Windows XP system. I recently received a new PC with Windows 7 Enterprise (32 bit) that is having issues with running queries from the same datatbase. I am still running the same version of Access (2003) on the new laptop but the queries seem to stall out and Access becomes non-responsive. Can switching from one operating system to another cause this issue? I am really just starting to use Access, so I am a novice at troubleshooting and thought that I would ask this question before digging deeper.

The brunt of the answer here is that MS is becoming worse and worse, as time goes on, at validating their new software releases and the compatibility of those releases with their platforms.

I've done years worth of searching and researching this subject and it always seems like the only answer out there is that you're stuck searching the web for solutions to new problems that pop up.

But in theory, NO, a version change of an OS should NOT cause grief with software that's made by the same company as the OS manufacturer. But MS is extremely untrustworthy with all of their releases, whatever the platform is.

I really don't have any doubt too, that the majority of that problem stems from the fact that no-one knows, not even today, the intricacies of the windows platform like Bill Gates does. And as a result, we see releases that can't possibly be trustworthy.

You better upgrade to higher Office Version 2007 / 2010 etc. They are compitable with old version 2003(mdb files).
You can install more than one office version in one PC.
eg I have three 2003,2007,2010 all in one pc without a problem.
2007 is better than 2003 and have many new options which do not exist in 2003.
answer it if this solve your issue.

this is absolutely ridiculous advice, coming from someone that seems like they want attention only. It's also completely wrong, technically.

I actually have Access 2007 as well as 2003 and tried to use the database in both 2003 and 2007 and the error occurred in both. Prior to switching operating systmes, I have no problem using either 2003 and 2007, however I usually used 2003 as I was more familiar with the format.

Problems which occur when running Access in a new environment would lead me to suspect that some component has not been installed properly (DAO, ADO or somesuch) rather than the whole operating system being at fault (I do not include Vista in that statement BTW!)

Running multiple versions 2003 and 2007 can cause problems. See this:
