New guy here looking for a little help.

I am using an access db to log test values from equipment we manufacture. We use to test the equipment and hand log the values.

I automated the process and the values are collected by a PLC and loaded into the db via a serial RS232 connection.

My db was working great a few months ago and not that I am getting ready to release to our production group the db stopped working.



It seems that all the VB calls stopped working. Comm port selection and button clicks. I enabled Macros and the VB started to work but my comm port gives an error:

"Because of security settings and current security policy, this control is disabled. To modify your policy and enable the db, use the message bar."

I am thinking some security policy has been pushed from the server.

Any thoughts out there? Using Access 07.

Have you allowed it as a trusted location yet?

By "it" do you mean Access?
I have only added trusted locations on the network where the file is located to stop the pop up message in the message bar.

How do I add trusted locations?

I keep thinking it is related to a recent MS update since it worked fine not too long ago.

Another note: When I get the VB code to work, I get an error when ever the MSCOMM function is called.

Error 438 "Object doesn't support this property or method"

An update for anyone who may be pondering.
I did a system restore back to June and the db works fine.
Now to find out why.
