    Handling Error 3101 in Forms

    Hi all,

I have a form with an embedded subform and when the data entered in the subform (the "many" side) has no matches in the related table ("one" side) i get the message: The Microsoft Access database engine cannot find a record in the parent table with key matching filed.....
At this moment the form is locked and I cannot click next record in the main form.
Please help me in handling this error (3101) as I wish to have a message in which the user is told his input is not valid and then to "unfreeze" the main form.

    Thanks in advance

You can't do it I don't think. As soon as you enter child info like this into a subform where there is no parent you can't advance to the next record on the main until you close the form and open again.

This should not be an issue anyway. If you're the developer, you need to ensure data like this can't be entered. That's what db design is all about!
