library number above 1000 will not save Error code is [3022]

I am using access for our choir music library inventory with information such as title, composer, arranger, lyrics, program notes, etc. I have an

"enter new music" form and have entered 999 library #'s over the years. The program will not let me enter #1000 or above. I did not create the program I am using (a former member created it in 2003) and I do not understand what to do solve the problem -- I need specific instructions in layman's terms please? Error code is 3022.
    Thanks!

Possibly field is text type limited to 3 characters. Make sure it is a number type. Or it is a number field and somehow is limited to numbers less than 1000.
Open table in design view to see this field's properties.

If you want to provide db for analysis, follow instructions at bottom of my post.

Error code 3022 refers to Key Violation.
You are trying to save a Key that already exists.
