Access 2007 Report - Conditional Formatting Flaw

Not sure if anyone else has seen this, but I have a report that recaps inspection of equipment. If there is an "Issue" or "No Rpt", I have the field set up in conditional formatting to change the font to Bold and also change color (Red for "Issue" and Blue for "No Rpt"). I also have the same condition set to change the background color to Yellow for "Issue" and Tan for "No Rpt". Everything works great for the Bold Font and Font Color, but for some reason the background color is not being changed. Anyone ever experience this, and is there a fix for it?

Check the data in your form/table, does it match exactly to No Rpt? Maybe remove the first condition and just try the No Rpt one. Or change it to just look for Rpt instead of the 2 words. I tried it on a sample report and it did work.

The table was set up as combo boxes initially. Since I switched to using VB to create the record, probably could change that.

I could see that, but why wouldn't it work for the single word "Issue"?

Check the combo back style. If it's transparent it can't take a colour. I agree; rarely are combos needed in a report.

Ok, in the table I changed the to Text box on all the fields that were using lookup combo box. I also redid the report fields back to text boxes and then redid the conditional formatting. Got the same result, it will format font color and change to bold, but it will not change the background color.

So I tried the suggestion of the background color of the text box and changed it from transparent to white and BOOM!, it worked.

Thanks for all the suggestions everyone!

Thanks! This does seem like the lookup fields still exist; just that the control used is different.
I changed the to Text box on all the fields that were using lookup combo box.
I don't have a lookup field to test that on. Can you set lookup field control to a textbox? I forget many things like that about Access that I knew but never use. If you can, then those fields are probably still lookup fields.
