Not sure who has control over the ads here now, but from being a moderator at SurbaruOutback.org I get the impression that is the domain of Xenforo. If a member decides they want their account deleted, they have to push that request upstairs. I get the impression that "upstairs" is not the site owner but is Xenforo.
Other things I can add to that is, yes, pasting pics is easier; there's a whole lot more of emojis (trivial IMO); the ability to "Like" a post in some degree (would have liked to do that here in the past but the only option is to "add to a user's reputation" or post a comment). I suspect there's more power in the ability to search also. Users also get more control over what's shown in their profile details as well as being able to use images as avatars. If not, you get a default one.
I imagine what is also important is what the move would provide on the admin side, which is something the lowly user never sees. That's about all I can think of about the more up to date software.
EDIT - OK, one more. Putting someone on your ignore list is far easier elsewhere.
The more we hear silence, the more we begin to think about our value in this universe.
