When a page is taking a long time to load I find that often if I click to stop loading it, then click to re-load, it loads almost instantaneously. That worked on this site yesterday. It seems to be faster now.

EDIT - can't do that when editing a post though. A few times I thought I'd lost everything when attempting an edit but the content came back if I waited.

Odd, because it's not as if this site is super busy lately.

    Ok, spotted another problem today.
I am unable to edit and add to a post. It is completely ignored when you click Save.

Can anyone else confirm the issue please?

I can confirm it. I tried last night and kept getting a "Your about to leave this site and your changes will be lost" type of message. I was trying to post a quick reply.

I've experienced the slowness also. I reported the first post as a way to call the owner's attention to the issue.

regular i can reach the site but not the case

if u the site manager there are several thing u can do to solve the troubles from many users , not just a few as u think.
power off router for 30 seconds or more if u know the site delay
power off switch for 30 seconds or more
    restart the server
    reorganize the database
    reorganize the disks
if possible block internet provider with more then usual traffic accepting some users cannot reach

in past we had monthly network reports showing 100% load during nighly backups and 20% load in working hours.
during working hours there were many complains abt oracle network errors.
solution was put the server on an other (new) switch which solved 80% from the errors.
2 users still complain and their pc went to other switch to solved again 80% from the network errors.
so i u trust ur site monitor , think twice and try
