Access not opening; stuck on splash screen

I tried to start MS Access 2016 from a shortcut on my Windows 10 desktop like I always do. I designed this shortcut to open the front-end Access 2016 database I made that is linked to the back end Access 2016 database.

But now instead of opening, Access is stills stuck on its splash screen with those series of dots going from left to right for the last 15 minutes and Access is still not open.

    What do I do?

seems to me that or the link is broken by an update or the server is not available

Well I would start with opening the dB directly.
Then the same again with shift bypass if it still happens on the first direct attempt.

Yes try to open the backend database by itself, see if you can open the tables, etc. Then open the FE database in design mode "shirt key" like Welsh suggests and then try to open the linked tables from the FE.

Thanks to all, but adding the folder my front end is in, to the list of Trusted Folders in MS Access 2016 seems to have fixed the problem.

Thanks for reporting back. That could help others.
There is a bug going around, but stopping Access stopping, not starting.
