    Locked Backend File

Hi Guy's when i have gone into backend tables, i have tried to design an existing table to add a field and it returns a locked message, its only on that table

all machines apart from mine are shut down so i don't believe other machines would have locked this table

I can still add data but wont or can't delete locked file

Task Manager doesn't display any access related files open

strange thing is, if i copy the backend file and place into a different folder, i can then edit that table!!

Is there way i can force the locked _be file to be deleted ?

Do you think one the other machines also shut down but if they have not closed access prior to shut down, could that lock it ?

Quick and easier fix for now is that i could re-link tables in front end to new located backend but that's cheating when the original location should allow me to remove locked file

Any ideas why based on info described ?

As backend is on server, if there is bad connection, will that stop files wworking in a folder ?

I can't understand if so because other tables are fine apart a particular one but copy full backend to another location, the said table can be edited!!!

I thought it wasn't as easy as turning left at the bend in the road

Ok, so some FE is still open?
Look inside the file, it might give you a clue as to who it is?

It is not you is it?

WGM, i owe you an apology, i was remoting in but when i left the office yesterday, another machine hadn't shut down, what made me think it was shut down, I couldn't connect to the said machine remotely so assumed it was switched off, the dog is barking again

    Much appreciated
