on design view... opens to an object that doesn't exist

i have one particular form that beyond any other is the project workhorse

--> when i switch to design view, i get:
"the expression you entered refers to an object that is closed or does not exist"
--> on the second consecutive attempt... the form opens (in design view)

it has been doing this for a very loooong time, and the work around has become routine.
today.... it is annoying me immensely.

what do i look for?
how do i get rid of it?


don't really care (today) about the how and why; just not having it anymore

any thought, direction, and/or suggestions would, as always, be greatly appreciated in advance.

If you want to provide db for analysis, follow instructions at bottom of my post.

I'd start by doing a full decompile\compile of the file and making sure you don't skip any compile errors after you do it; sometimes you add, rename, delete controls on forms and they get saved 'deep-down" in the compiled code, and this would "flush" them out.

Look at the form property sheet to see if there is a reference to a deleted object/field in the form record source, filter or order by properties.
Remove / modify ass necessary
