Unknown Error in Allen Browne's Database Issue Checker Utility

I downloaded Allen Browne's Database Issue Checker Utility and got this error: The expression On Current you entered as the event property setting produced the following error:. *The expression may not result in the name of a macro, the name of a user-defined function, or [Event Procedure]. *There may have been an error evaluating the function, event, or macro.

When I click OK, the application opens, but when i click on the button to Choose a Database, I get a similar error. When It finally lets me locate and enter a database to open, I click on the
examine' button and I get another error stating that is was unsuccessful in opening the utility it self's database because it is already open. Then it reports that no problems were identified in the selected file.

I am a beginner, and don't have the skills to update/repair this utility, but, as a beginner, I would like to use it.

Allen sends the utility 'As Is' with no support, so am hoping someone on this board can help me (and others) with the same issue. I am thinking that it may be that something will not work in my environment (Windows 7 64 bit and Office Pro 2010.

    Thanks!

I had the same problem when trying it. Open the mdb while holding down a <SHIFT> key and open any one of the 3 modules in Design View. Then Debug>Compile and close the db. Now try it again. I'm not sure what is going on but the error goes away. I'll let Allen know.

Thanks RuralGuy... I did this, and the program now opens without error, the application allows me to select an application, but then I get an error saying the file may be already in use, then it some back with a new window reporting that "no problems were identified in the selected file".

It seems to need some more attention. I checked the file properties of the one on Allen's site, but it still has a date in 2010, so I think it still hasn't been attended to by him. Would you please take a look at it again?

    Thanks, Curtis

It seems to work fine on my PC. Does it fail this way on all db's you try to examine?

Yes, it reports Error 3405:Could not use '<Path>DbIssueChecker.mdb'; file already in use.

It does this not matter what database I try to open, and wherever it is in my file structure.

As I said, I am having no problems accessing any db. You are now opening *without* holding down a <SHIFT> key, right? Maybe 64bit Access issue. I don't know.

He states on his site this program is *without* support so don't hold your breath. He is a busy guy. I did send him a email to alert him to this issue. That is the best I think we can expect. If we cannot resolve this issue on our own then it will probably have to go unresolved.
