Pulling data from one table and automatically inserting it into another

    Hi everyone,

I am brand new to access and am struggling quite a bit here. I have a table full of information on list of various parts including the serial number as well as a description. I am trying to have it so that on the second table when I type in the serial number it will also insert the description with it automatically. The closest I can get is just to have a drop down box with all the descriptions which isn’t exactly what I want. I am really lost here and would appreciate any help!!

Should not save description to second table. Duplication of data is contrary to relationship database principles. Retrieve related info by joining tables in query.

Have you studied any tutorials on relational database concepts?
How to attach file: http://www.accessforums.net/showthread.php?t=70301 To provide db: copy, remove confidential data, run compact & repair, zip w/Windows Compression.
