Server for split DB?? Requirement inputs needed....

not sure if this is the right place for this but....

I am having a server set up to host several backend Access databases. What requirements do I need to request? I don't know hardware or what would be best

Options (database, webserver, app server) and performance / operating system

does the server need Office installed to host the backends?

    any input is appreciated!

Note the databases have FE on local computers and the BE will be on server with connections through secure LAN/WAN

we use a regular file server in a shared folder: \\server\folder\folder\accessdb.accdb

then link the frontend to this file (or files)
then distribute the FE to all users.

Hi, in most cases one machine hosts several virtual servers, so check your company for this, otherwise you can see on websites like Dell for a standard server machien. I would suggest a standard Windows 2019 server will certainly do, an access file hasn't many needs or special requirements. Normally we don't install Office on a server machine, only the BE requires access installed.
