Access 97 to Access 2016 to SQL

we are using a very old application for our company which was written in access 97. we have now upgraded to access 2016 and have all front end apps working etc but havn't yet put into the live environment.

our next step is to move to SQL.

would this mean that all front end apps need to be written again or can we use current ones?

even though the application is old, it is perfect for our needs.

You can use current ones but will probably need to rewrite you sql to a) avoid using vba functions and b) some renaming of fields and c) to take advantage of sql server functionality. You will of course need to relink to your sql back end.
