Record source error message - access in office 2016

I didn't want to rebuild and reprogram a new whole database so I made a copy and then deleted the old stuff and renamed it to this year 2018-2019.

I get the attached error message when I open the program, although, I can still do everything I need.

I've followed the instructions, but once I get to the PROPERTY SHEET page, I can't find what I'm looking for to get rid of the error message.

    Suggestions?

    Thanks,

    NORM

not quite sure what you mean by ' can't find what I'm looking for'

You can't find the recordsource property? you can't find the table or query?

I can open the program, add data and do anything I choose at the moment, but I keep getting this error message when I open the file.

But when I go to the page to fix the issue per the error message, I can't find where to do so (see attached).

    Thanks,

From what I see the Record Source in the message is not the name of the Table in the Navigation Pane. You need to check the Report.

Newest message is Query must have at least one destination field, but I can't seem to figure out how to do that.

    Sorry: above my skill level.

Well, when you create a query using the designer you must add some fields below where it says Fields. Have you ever created a query before?

Yes. What I don't understand Is why this has changed when all I did was eliminate a bunch of prior year's records and just renamed the FILE. I put out a pitch to my "local" people who hopefully I can speak with on the phone, or just send them the file and let them fix it. Thanks for your assistance. NORM

    Thanks GINA.

Somehow, a "link" or "setting" got disconnected which ties in to the table.

I can one of two things: figure out where that got disconnected (which is a mystery to me) OR just dump the reports (most of which I'm not using anyway) and make NEW reports.

Going through the process, starting anew, that should fix the problem.

Does that sound like a good idea?

Ummm, the message is generic for forms and reports. It could be either.
Somewhere, something is being called and it can't resolve it. The message refers to 2017-2018-2019 but the table isn't named that.

I'd start with looking at the db properties to see if an opening form is being called automatically based on your comments.
And no, I wouldn't start over as opposed to finding the problem. If it is a default opening form or Autoexec macro and you don't know what I mean, you'll rebuild everything in the db and still have the problem. It seems to work for now as you say - but it may be because you haven't tried to use whatever looks at the broken reference (if it's not an opening form/macro issue).

By any chance you are missing a table that was maybe linked in the db you copied from?

Why don't you make a zipped copy of the db and post it here. I'm sure someone would fix it for you.

If it's just a link can you just refresh the links? If you don't have that *drive* you can use a USB to set the *drive* and remap that way. (Note, not the best way but will work in a pinch I've done it.)

Thank you for all the suggestions.

I decided to dump the version I messed up and reinstalled a back-up version that works perfectly and is missing only some recently updated information which I can quickly add back.

Since I'm only running the "REPORTS" once a year, it wasn't worth the time to search, post, call people, etc. I just have to be careful about renaming the table inside the program going forward.

I did rename the file to 2019 and that didn't generate any error messages, so I'm fine.

    Thanks for the support.
