    Syntax error when Adding Buttons

I am mananging and develop an Access database. I have put lots of buttons on forms previously. Yesterday when I tried to put a new button on a for the following message came up"The code contains a syntax error, or Microsoft Access function you need is unavailable . If the syntax is correct, check the control wizards subkey or the libraries key in the Microsoft access section of your windows registry to verify that the entries you need are listed and available. If the entries are correct, either you must correct the Microsoft access Utility Add-in, or the file acWzlib or this wizard has been disabled, run Microsoft Office Access or Microsoft office setup again to reinstall Microsoft office access. Before you reinstall Microsoft office access, delete the windows registry keys of the Microsoft office Access utility Add-in and acWzlib."I am not a techie - Just a manager with an interest in Access Databases. Any ideas how I can fix this?Barry

    barry,

oddly-occurring errors like this are not found often, so you have to google it often: http://www.google.com/#sclient=psy&h...9b4d9c5dd710f6

corruption is most likely it seems.

Start by *importing* your db into a fresh, new db and see if the problem follows. http://www.btabdevelopment.com/ts/impnew

wow, that site has undergone so many changes, I can't even remember what it looked like when he first put it up! What happened to that mountain background?

Looks kind of bland now. Less flash than before.

    It didn't work

When I imported the database into a new one it kept coing up with the following error "Reserved error (-1524); there is no message for this error"The database did import but without the table with all the data in it. When I tried adding comman buttons to a form it added the button but the wizard did not start. No error mesage came up. There is a corrupted record in the table which I can't deleteThe text is like chinese writing. If you try to delate it it says the search key is not found in any record I have also noticed that I no longer get the error mesage when adding a command button - judst no wizard

This tells you that you had corruption and still have some. In ac2007 toward the right side of the Design menu there are 3 buttons. The top one says "Select" and the one under that says "Use Control Wizards" and the bottom button is "ActiveX Controls". Press your "Use Control Wizards" button and see if it makes any difference. It should highlight as if selected.

The same suggestions apply. Have you done them?
